Xi Lu
The Xi Lu were a legendary people appearing in Tiandihui origin myths. They were said to have invaded China during the Qing Dynasty, subduing the government's soldiers. In the story, fighter-monks from the Shaolin Monastery eventually defeated the invaders, and were rewarded by the Emperor. Soon after, they were betrayed and the temple was destroyed. The remaining monks (often called the Five Elders) vowed revenge, forming the Tiandihui. Though the historic identity of the Xi Lu is unknown, some believe it was a kingdom of Tibet.〔Murray, Dian H. "The Origins of the Tiandihui". Stanford University Press, 1994, p. 220.〕 ==Notes==
